If you suffer from seasonal or year-round allergies, you already know how difficult it can be to feel comfortable in your own home. Many allergens—like pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and dust mites—hide in plain sight and get stirred up by everyday activity. At Clean as Can Bee, we believe that the path to easier breathing starts with a cleaner living space. By incorporating smarter, allergy-conscious cleaning habits into your routine, you can reduce your exposure and finally start breathing easier.
1. Filter Your Air with Intention

Start with your HVAC system—your home’s lungs. Replace filters regularly, ideally every 1–3 months. For allergy sufferers, HEPA filters are highly recommended because they trap smaller particles. Consider adding air purifiers in bedrooms and living spaces to boost air quality even further.
2. Dusting Done Right
Dry dusting simply moves allergens around. Instead, use damp microfiber cloths that trap dust effectively. Make sure to clean often-overlooked areas like blinds, vents, fan blades, and the tops of doorframes. These hidden zones are allergen hotspots.
3. Vacuum with a HEPA Filter
Vacuum carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture at least once a week using a HEPA-filter-equipped vacuum cleaner. This helps remove dust mites, pet hair, and other allergens from deep within fibers.
4. Wash Your Bedding Weekly
Your bed can harbor thousands of dust mites and allergens. Wash sheets, pillowcases, and blankets in hot water (130°F or higher) every week. Use dust-mite-proof covers on pillows and mattresses for extra protection.
5. Stay on Top of Pet Dander

If you have pets, brush them regularly and bathe them when possible. Clean their beds and vacuum areas they frequent to keep dander buildup to a minimum.
6. Watch the Humidity
Mold thrives in moisture. Keep indoor humidity between 30–50% using a dehumidifier or proper ventilation. Pay extra attention to bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.
7. Be Careful with Cleaners
Strongly scented products can trigger symptoms. Choose fragrance-free or hypoallergenic cleaning solutions when possible.
A clean home doesn’t just look good—it helps you feel good, too. Let Clean as Can Bee help you make your home a haven for fresh air and easier breathing.
